Azerbaijan to buy helicopters from Italy: memorandum signed

Dubai Air Show 2023 was held in the United Arab Emirates from November 13 to 17, 2023. During the exhibition on November 14, strategic directions and perspective plans of cooperation on acquisition of new generation helicopters were discussed between Aviation Services Group (ASG) and Italian helicopter manufacturer Leonardo.

According to the information, following the results of negotiations between ASG Helicopter Services LLC and Leonardo's representative in the Caspian region, Exclases Group Company, a memorandum was signed on acquisition of three modern new generation helicopters of Agusta Westland 189 type manufactured by Leonardo. According to the agreement reached between the parties, within the next two years it is planned to purchase two helicopters of AW189 type equipped with the most modern equipment complying with international aviation standards and flight safety requirements, and then one additional aircraft of the same type.

The memorandum was signed by Azer Sultanov, General Director of ASG Helicopter Services LLC, and Paul Ploshansky, Executive Director of Exclases. The ceremony was attended by ASG Group President Teymur Mammadov, Leonardo's Senior Vice President for Sales in Europe, Middle East and Africa Andrea Mirteto, Leonardo's representative for the Caspian region, Exclases Group Sales Director for Azerbaijan and Georgia Fuad Shabanov and other officials.

The new aircraft to be delivered in accordance with the agreement will contribute to the expansion of the aircraft fleet of ASG Helicopter Services LLC, the quality of aviation services provided by the company to oil companies operating in the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Caspian Sea basin, as well as improving the level of safety of passenger and cargo air transportation.

For 15 years ASG Helicopter Services LLC has been an important and the most modern aviation company in the field of helicopter services in the Caspian region. The company's aircraft fleet includes American Sikorsky S92, Italian AW139 and AW109 helicopters, French Airbus Helicopters AS-332L1, Russian Mi helicopters. The main activity of the airline is transportation of passengers and cargo to oil platforms located in the Caspian Sea. At the same time, the company performs various services and operations in the field of helicopter services, including search and rescue operations, medical evacuation, aerial photography, individual tourist trips, external suspension transportation, etc. The company is certified to transport dangerous goods.
