At the UP.Summit, an annual gathering of leaders in transportation innovation hosted by investment firm UP.Partners, urban air mobility (UAM) pioneer Volocopter announced that it has achieved another milestone to bring UAM to life: its fixed-winged passenger aircraft, the VoloConnect, completed its first flight in May 2022.

Memorial Day weekend saw a 1.8% increase in North American business aviation flight activity year over year (FRI MAY 27 – MON MAY 30 2022 vs FRI MAY 28 – MON MAY 31 2021). On Memorial Day we saw a 3.7% decrease in flight activity year over year, which indicates increased participation in the holiday weekend.

SaxonAir, the independent UK business aviation operator, confirmed its order for an Agusta AW109 GrandNew helicopter on the opening day of EBACE, Monday 23 May. The latest variant, to be delivered in the first quarter of 2023, with the registration G-KLNA, replaces SaxonAir's 2016 AW109SP, which was delivered new in 2016.

Joby Aviation, Inc., a California-based company developing all-electric aircraft for commercial passenger service, announced the Company has received a Part 135 Air Carrier Certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration, allowing Joby to begin on-demand commercial air taxi operations.

Jetex, an award-winning global leader in executive aviation, and Mavi Air, Turkey’s leading on-demand tourism and aviation company, announce the signing of a letter of intention for the acquisition of two HondaJet Elite S aircraft on the first day of the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition, taking place in Geneva on 23-25 May 2022.
