FAA issues special UAS waiver to Alaska to use airspace for certification purposes

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted permission for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) to operate and test in Alsaka with the aim of securing certification for national airspace flight. The waiver was requested by the Alaska Department of Transportation & Public Facilities (DOT&PF) in late 2020. Alaska is the only state with the ability to allow UAS operations classified as research or development, including aircraft under 300 pounds, to be conducted in Alaska UAS test-site airspace.

AEA unveils 2022 year-end Avionics Market Report

The Aircraft Electronics Association released its 2022 year-end Avionics Market Report, and total worldwide business and general aviation avionics sales for the year amounted to $2,877,281,308, or more than $2.8 billion as reported by the participating companies. The dollar amount represented a 21.5% increase in total year-end sales compared to 2021, which is the largest annual percentage increase in the 11-year history of the report.

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) released the 2022 General Aviation Aircraft Shipment and Billing Report during its annual State of the Industry Press Conference. Overall, when compared to 2021, all aircraft segments saw increases in shipments and preliminary aircraft deliveries were valued at $26.8 billion, an increase of 6.0%.
