Weekly flight activity for North American Business Aviation has reached the peak of the Summer plateau. Flight counts for the previous two weeks were within 1.1% of one another.
Between January and June 2022, business aviation departures in the US were up 15.2% when compared to the same period in 2019. The corresponding figure for Europe is 17%.

Finishing up the 2nd full week of July, North American business aviation traffic displayed a nearly identical pattern to this time last year with an overall flight count down 6.3% year over year. The continuous post-pandemic surge in flight activity month over month has started to slow down, while overall annual flight counts are still at healthy levels historically.
After incurring heated sales volume for two years, the global preowned business aircraft market is beginning to show signs of stabilizing. According to the second quarter 2022 market report from the International Aircraft Dealers Association (IADA), 598 aircraft sales transaction were recorded by the group during the first half compared to 529 during the same period the prior year, a 13 percent increase.

As expected, the 4th of July holiday weekend heavily influenced overall flight counts for North American business aviation the first week of July 2022. Daily charter flights peaked on Thursday, June 30th at 4490 flights. Cargo flights began to taper off after Tuesday, June 28th, several days before the start of the holiday weekend. Part 91 flights peaked on Thursday, June 30th and remained below average for a full week following the holiday weekend.
